High Schools

Secondary education is free and compulsory. There are many good secondary schools all over the island, both public and private.

Private High Schools

Several private high schools exist in Cyprus. They offer high quality teaching and have excellent facilities. Some private high schools are English and offer English qualifications.

Public High Schools

Secondary education is designed for the 16-18 age-group and has a three year programme of instruction. It is provided by high schools known as Lycees and vocational schools. Entrance to the first cycle at the public schools is automatic. There are competitive entrance examinations in Turkish, Greek, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography and English.

Training and Art Schools

The technical and vocational schools are comprised of commercial lycees, technical training schools, agricultural vocational school, the school of nursing and mid-wifery, and the tourism and hotel management and catering school. Schools of art.
